        1981年4月23日至30日，洛阳浮法玻璃工艺正式通过国家级技术鉴定，荣获国家发明二等奖。从此，洛阳玻璃厂成为世界上第三家掌握浮法玻璃技术的企业。

 

   同年8月，美国华裔教授林同楼和美国学者利斯妥在所著《桥梁工程的创新》中，赞扬中国双曲拱桥的创造精神，提到了嵩县前河大桥，还刊登了大桥照片。此前，我国的科教影片《双曲拱桥》里说：“目前，前河双曲拱桥单拱跨度名列亚洲，世界第三。”

 

   11月12日，洛阳轴承厂研制成功当时中国Z大的1792/4250特大型轴承，外径为5.082米，重量为8954公斤，可容一辆卡车进出。
