3月31日晚，南方轴承发布公告称，为进一步突出公司主营业务性质及明确公司发展成为世界一流高端精密零部件供应商的目标，拟将公司名称变更为“江苏南方精工股份有限公司”，证券简称变更为“南方精工”。
公司表示，从2011年2月上市后，公司借助资本市场的力量，逐渐发展壮大。产品从单一的轴承产品逐步扩展至目前的轴承、离合器、皮带轮、机械零部件等多种精密零部件产品；产品的应用领域也从Z初的燃油乘用车、摩托车逐步拓展，目前已拓展至新能源车、商用车、工业机器人、无人机、航空离合器等多个领域。因此，目前公司名称已无法涵盖公司生产的全部产品类型。本次拟变更公司名称、证券简称与公司主营业务构成、经营情况和发展战略相匹配。
值得一提的是，发布更名公告的同时，公司宣布将在原有轴承、超越离合器、轮系三大事业部的基础上，再成立新能源汽车零部件事业部。
“公司原有应用于新能源汽车的零部件产品分别分散在不同事业部，根据产品种类不同分别进行技术研发，市场推广和销售。”南方轴承表示，本次成立新能源事业部，是对公司在新能源汽车零部件产品上的战略提升和资源整合，旨在优化管理流程、进一步提高公司管理效率，有利于该类产品的战略规划和技术研发，对公司整体业务发展将会产生积极的效益和深远的影响。
