       2018年1月2日，一套长20米、重50吨的塔筒，从临武县工业园湖南湘能重工有限公司运往广西。公司有关负责人介绍，他们每月有16至20套风机塔筒销往外地。现在，湘能重工与园区其他风电企业一起，逐步形成风能开发、装备制造、运营维护的产业链，助推临武打造湖南Z大风电产业基地。

       临武风能资源丰富，全县可开发的风能蕴藏量达69.4万千瓦以上，居全省。早在2011年，该县就委托中南勘测设计研究院编制了风资源开发规划。同时，大力发展风能等新能源装备制造业。目前，已引进华润、湘电、中南院等知名企业来该县开发风力资源，有7个项目已并网发电，装机容量达27万千瓦，年发电10亿千瓦时。全县已建、在建及筹建的风电项目总装机容量为39.99万千瓦，占全县风电资源蕴藏量的57%。风能装备制造业也发展很快，形成了产业集群。
